BIM - Building Information Modeling Policy and Standards for Qatar

The 4th Qatar BIM User Day is themed “BIM Policy – One industry, one language”. Speakers will present case studies and discuss the development of common standards for Building Information Modeling (BIM) in contracts, manuals and guidelines, from the national down to the project level.

René Schumann, General Manager of HOCHTIEF ViCon Qatar, explained: “As Building Information Modeling can greatly help manage complex projects, it is in high demand in Qatar right now. At the same time, the authorities and the industry are in the process of developing a common language to define contractual scope and monitor execution. The BIM User Day brings together top experts to help officials and engineers with this task.”

The event follows the success of the three previous BIM User Days which each drew over 180 participants from more than 90 companies and organizations.

The BIM User Days shall support to develop Qatar as the knowledge hub for BIM in the Middle East, and foster the exchange of knowledge between experts and BIM interested individuals. With the objective to found a BIM User Group in Qatar and the Gulf, the User Day aims to help people to create a platform to share knowledge, discuss new technologies, and identify new potentials for BIM in the Gulf construction industry.
